The Risks of Koi Assisted Birth

Baby-eating Koi

Before you decide on a koi assisted birth, you might want to consider the potential risks.

The koi are skilled midwives. No one is disputing that. Their unique physiology allows them to literally suck babies from the womb, thus alleviating much of the pain associated with traditional childbirth. Now occasionally, the koi will feed on a baby they've just delivered. This by no means happens with every birth, but it isn't unheard of. Feeding the assisting koi shortly before the birth should help mitigate the risk. Good luck!
