According to an article in the Guardian, Lord of the Flies author William Golding confessed in a private journal that he tried to rape a 15-year-old girl when he was 18. They had taken piano lessons together. In a feeble attempt at excusing the attempted rape, Golding claimed that the girl was depraved by nature. He went on to explain that by the age of 14 she was already sexy as an ape.

Sexy Ape is totally asking for it.

Sexy as an ape, huh? Was that a real expression, or did Golding just have peculiar sexual proclivities? Well, attempted rapist or not, I like that phrase and intend to use it.

Golding's papers also reveal that when he was a public school teacher, he performed psychological experiments on his students. He separated the boys into groups and turned them against each other. That sounds kinda familiar...
