Water Slide for Noodles
This water slide toy allows people to enjoy nagashi somen at home. Somen noodles are thin white Japanese noodles generally served cold and dipped in a sauce called tsuyu. They become nagashi somen, or flowing noodles, when they are served in a stream of water. The noodles come out of the little house at the top and then flow down the slide into a strainer at the bottom.
Some restaurants serve nagashi somen in bamboo flumes. As the noodles slide by in ice cold water, diners attempt to grab them with their chopsticks. You can watch Pan-kun, Japan's famous chimpanzee, eating nagashi somen from an enormous flume. And totally pulling off a popped collar.
He uses chopsticks way better than I do.
The somen noodle water slide is what inspired my fantastically stupid idea for the Barbie Summer Fun Fondue Set.
