Robot Unicorn Seal?

Elephant seal with mechanized unicorn horn

Or seal with a sensor crudely glued to its head?

Some scientists stationed in Antarctica have been capturing elephant seals and attaching sensors to their heads in order to gain information about the southern ocean. When the seals go on their deep sea dives (in search of squid snacks and pirate treasure), their mechanized unicorn horns collect important data about the ocean's temperature.

But is it really a good idea to outfit seals with robotic enhancements? What happens when the robo-seals turn on their masters? The seals have already displayed signs that they are unsatisfied with their jobs. One scientist was bitten by an enraged bull. I am not looking forward to the inevitable war between the humans and the robot unicorn seals. Read "Elephant Seals Equipped With Sensors Help Study Ocean".
